christmas diary
It is nearly Christmas, I thought for once I ought to talk about water softeners, rather than waffling on about biscuits, dogs and roundabouts (they don't seem to be in much of a rush do they?). Right I must concentrate.
A water softener is an appliance that normally fits under your sink and removes all of the calcium which makes our water hard in Dorset. Once you get rid of the calcium your appliances stay clean and last longer. Hot water pipes de-scale and so run more efficiently. (Did you know that a couple of year's worth of scale in your cylinder can mean you need to use 25% more energy?) plus you can start using half the amount of soaps etc. Did I tell you how much money you could save and how clean your bathroom will be?
All water softeners then use salt to clean themselves once they are full of that nasty scale. Our water softeners are so easy that all you need to do is keep them topped up with salt (which we can supply) and they just keep working. We have models for everyone from small homes to large hotels and they all come with our brilliant and reliable installation and service.
Great, I managed it! Must go, I have presents to buy, choir practice and 'all that jazz'. So whatever your persuasion, I wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

october/nov diary
I hate to say but I feel Christmas is in the air. Pretty weird as I have only just taken my summer holiday. We took it late as we were so busy. Anyway lots to look forward to before then, I am a bit old fashioned and I rather like autumn especially harvest festival or Michaelmas. This is the celebration of nature and the success of the harvest. Do you remember singing at school 'We plough the fields and scatter'? I do. After that it's Halloween, quite good fun I like to think of it as All Souls Night. Next firework night. We get busy and let off fireworks for a local charity, then we are on the homeward straight for Christmas, lots of parties and choir rehearsals.
It sounds tiring but I like it and it makes the year go by. What's this got to do with plumbing? Not a lot but when your doing the washing up at Christmas you will really appreciate how easy it is to clean your plates and pans with soft water and although diamonds are nice, I am sure that eventually your wife will understand why you bought her a softener and you will love the savings on your household bills.

Diary September
What is a recession? Most good tradesmen I know are busy, money rolls in and life goes on, but there is signs of recession, I see it every week.
Biscuits and cakes seem to becoming rarer is this a sign of money being short, but they are so important part of keeping the great british workman happy and efficient. Tradesmen often miss breakfast and then eat sandwiches at lunch time with flask tea and coffee so You can see then customer that you can be angels in disguise.
One particular angle mrs w. , The wife, a former customer bagged her man with the aid of good coffee and home made cake.
Since then she has kept up the good cakes and coffee as my waist now shows. One discovery that I have made over the years is that tea and coffee taste a lot better with soft water. Once you remove the scale the drinks take fresher and stronger plus you don,t get a scum on top of the drink. Another real benefit is that the tea and coffee pot are easy to clean, no stains, which keeps mrs w happy. You can bet that all the posh coffee shops remove scale from their water before they put it through there cappuccino machines, in fact we sell them the filters so yes they do.
Give me a call I,ll supply the soft water, you get out the biscuits and I can show you why soft water is brilliant.
